Insight about my Tamil Society – Part 1

Posted by rajaganapathy on May 19, 2008

Hi everyone, I came here to encarve my anger about my people, society with whom i grew up, with whom i learned, played, ate, fought, & slept.

Everyone will talk, feels pride about the country, society, people they grew up with, till they never exposed to  a  good, harmless, violenceless society and the society where no one bothers about others private life, society where you can only concentrate on things to progress on your life rather than fighting for your self respect, basic freedom to practise any good things you wish.

Well, i grew up from a remote village in Tirunelveli and settled down at Singapore as of now and I found my life partner here. The moment my friends and relatives heard about me marrying a nice girl from different culture , tradition, background, they jumped from ground to sky saying, how come you can go away from our tradition, culture, blah, blah … Ok guys, tell me what’s the best about your culture to me to follow still, like my forefathers?  Whats that great about your society , which i should adopt?

Do you think I’m not aware, a cow’s dung is enough for you people to fire buses , vehicles and announce a bandh.

some say me , man , tamil culture is so old , we have tradition from 2000 or 3000 years before ? tell me whats your tradition is ? fighing and killing people in name of caste , religion etc , etc.Thadi yeduthvan yellam thandal karan and you barbarians will come with proverbs like “thustanai kandal thoora vilahu” for people like me to lead a life safe and happy in our society. To adopt your culture means ,, get ready to live in any of two ways ,

1. THADI YEDU

2. THOORA VILAHU

What kind of society is that where no one respects others for their good , kind , helping deeds. Instead respects others for their caste, thaadaism?  Do i need to be the part of this society which makes you coward or a rowdy ? if you want to be a good one , be a coward otherwise be a rowdy. thats how you can lead a life in the traditinal tamil society where people are behind money and caste .

How can you expect me to think your society is the best to my kids?. I want my kids to grew up in a society where people wont lie , cheat , kill or harm others. i want my kids to mingle with innocent , hardworking , intellectual , smart friends so that he can concentrate only on things what needed to progress in life.I just want my next generation to hear violence in news and enjoy fighting only in video games and movies. All these possible in your traditional  TAMIL society ?  possible after 1000 years atleast ? No way . Its not possibe…..

One of my friend told me , man, u knew the GDP of India, u know how India’s infrastructure is developing now ? I agree , India is developing ..second fastest developing economy after china ,its doing better in most of the fields. I agree everythng .. Tell me the PEOPLE are developed ? I’m talking only about the people and the society. The real fact is, People are not matured enough to handle all these developments. Its like this man , Anbumani Ramdoss will scold the actors for smoking in movie, to stop people smoking. He is clever , he knew we cant change people by making laws otherwise they will send him out of the goverment  if he tells them directly, see what happens to Jeyalalitha where she comes with fines for spitting, smoking on public. So even leaders knew very well we cant change this barabaric society, where they feel proud for what they are doing.

Many of my friends back home told me , dont talk bad about our society its where you learnt everything. hahha . If i shouldnot have exposed to other societies, culture even me would tell the same. Our society made us “frogs of the well”.ok , what we are learning in our society , very first thing , HATE OTHER CASTES.ha ha .. Then how will i knew to respect people by their deeds rather than caste.

My anger will continue in next part ……………………………………….
